About the Artist (cont.)
For over seven years, their original music has shaped and influenced musical Shabbat services throughout the United States. Micah also served as musical director for the Jewish Healing service, Miriam's Well, for several years. Assistant editor for the High Holy Day Prayerbook published by the Reconstructionist Press, Micah's musical and liturgical leadership have inspired hundreds of Jews to enter the world of Jewish prayer and song throughout North America, Europe, Israel, and even Africa. Micah's music and songwriting embraces the Jewish Reconstructionist spirit by bringing new melodies and contemporary meaning to ancient sentiments and Jewish life. He has composed and recorded original liturgical compositions, some of which can be found on "A Night of Questions," a companion recording for the new Reconstructionist Haggadah of the same title. Rabbi Micah is a graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.

Text from the Music CD Sleeve:
The songs on this recording were all written during my five years at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC) when I began to perform and lead services in the Philadelphia area with Shabbat Unplugged in 1995. As a truly Reconstructionist enterprise, this six member troupe leads musical Shabbat services and Havdallah events in an engaging manner. Some of the spirit of that work is captured here. Without the love and support of my fellow colleagues in the troupe, this recording would not have been possible. My thanks and love to Shawn, my mentor, Myriam, Margot, Rayzel, and Juliet. While studying at RRC, with each year of study came a new song that in some way reflected my studies. For example, Veshamru, a biblical text, was composed during my year of biblical studies, and the rabbinically sanctioned Havdallah Blessings came during my studies of the rabbinic period. Various practical rabbinics classes also influenced songs on this recording. Much of the music on Walking Humbly is based on the Reconstructionist prayerbook series Kol Haneshamah. I wish to thank the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation for permission to use the texts from this prayerbook series. Special thanks to Sheila Peltz Weinberg for permission to use the words to her prayer, Everyday Creation is Renewed.

This recording would not have been possible and this music would not have been brought into creation without the love and support of my family. My soulmate, Rachel, whose patience, guidance, ears, and openness has helped me to see this to fruition. Sophie Aviva, who is a source of inspiration to me every day. Special thanks and love to Jeff and Nancy Becker who have helped to provide me with the support and blessing to transform this dream into a reality. My parents and grandparents have always been a source of encouragement to me. Many blessings and thanks to my Dad, whose early guitar playing and nighttime singing planted a seed. The number one fan award goes to my Mom, who has done her best to come and see almost every performance of Shabbat Unplugged. If it were not for so many siblings getting united with their soul mates, many of the wedding songs on this recording would not have been possible. May your lives always be a source for creating new melodies.

Many friends have listened, commented and helped me along the way to see this project come to life. I thank you all-- friends from USY; Philadelphia; Israel; New York; Bordentown, New Jersey; Keene, New Hampshire; the Jerry Garcia Support Group; and the Reconstructionist movement.

I am grateful to the Infinite Oneness whose presence fills creation and to which I am linked with the continual blessings of music in my life.
